"When I was unemployed and without health insurance, BCHW Clinic was like a port in the storm for me.
I was fairly new to the area, and unaware that a free clinic existed in Bureau County. When a friend told me that I should go talk with them, I was hesitant because I did not know how they would accept me and also the fact that there was help if a person did not have the resources to receive medical help if you had no way to pay of paying for it.
The staff and professional volunteers treated me with compassion and provided excellent medical treatment that I would not have otherwise received. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, and a heart condition, that if left unattended without proper medications would have been fatal. I was put on a schedule for regular blood testing to monitor my conditions and control my medications accordingly.
The Clinic provided service to me for approximately five years until I was old enough to receive Medicare benefits.
Without the love of God, emotional and medical support given to me by the BCHW Clinic, I would not be alive today."
